Good morning to all of our valued guests and followers.

I would like to direct you all to Camille’s Samui info blog. I stumbled across this website this morning and it is a fantastic source of information for anybody who is travelling to or visiting Koh Samui with loads of information. Here is a little extract from the header of the blog:
“Welcome to the original Koh Samui info and weather blog with lots of information on things to do and see around tropical island destination Koh Samui in Thailand including daily weather updates, brought to you by long term resident Camille Lemmens since February 2007.”

I imagine one of the most visited sections of the blog is the weather section. It would appear that Camille updates the blog daily and gives you a really good indication of the weather on the island.

But there is more than just weather. There is links all over the site with more than enough information for the average tourist, with things to do and see, warnings, holidays, hotel recommendations and more.

This website is a must see for travellers and tourists and one that we will be visiting often! If you find this blog useful, feel free to make a small paypal donation to keep fantastic sites like this going! They are a valuable source of information for anybody and by the looks of things it takes up quite a bit of time.

Important information about booking through 3rd party companies

Hi all! Once again thanks for checking out the Weekender Villa Beach Resort. We are happy to continue to provide you with wonderful service and it appears that you are all very happy with your stay according to TripAdviser. This pleases us a lot and we hope that all of our guests can return again and again.

One issue that keeps popping up that our guests appear not to be all that happy with is incorrect listings against some of our rooms, in particular, the Backpackers Bungalow.

We list our resort through a number of third party booking companies (although you can book directly through our website or email us, which is a lot easier). One such third party we are having an issue changing the room ammenities of the Backpackers Bungalow. So please note, when you book through Expedia or Hotels.com it will state that the Backpackers Bungalow has a television, possibly have beach views and air conditioning. It does not!

All of our rooms have air conditioning and television EXCEPT for the Backpackers Bungalow. Please visit our information page to view the actual ammenities of each room and be assured that we are working hard to fix this issue.

Booking.com

To all of our booking.com customers. We thank you for your business but as you would know, booking.com do not charge you a deposit. It is a requirement that we take a 50% deposit from you at the time of your booking.

Upon placing a booking with booking.com you will receive an email from us with a booking invoice requesting a deposit to be paid with Paypal – you do not require a paypal account to use this feature. Rather than take your credit card details from Booking.com we would prefer that you use the ‘Pay Now’ feature sent to you in your email to pay your 50% deposit as it is much safer and a more secure payment method.

Please note that bookings are not confirmed until a 50% deposit is received.

We hope that these booking instructions will allow us to serve you even better. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any issues at all and we would be happy to address them.

A big thanks to our guests

We have recently had a large number of 5 star reviews entered on TripAdvisor. From the bottom of our hearts we would like to thank all of our guests for their feedback. We aim to please in every way that we can so that your holiday feels like just that, a holiday. If you are reading this but you have not yet been to the resort, make sure you check out what our friends have had to say after their stay on Tripadvisor.

When you stay at the resort we have a number of rooms that suit a range of different budgets and preferences. If you are looking for something a little extra in your room, try booking one of the Superior Bungalows or the Beachfront Bungalow. Each of those bungalows have air conditioning, personal bathrooms, large balconies TV, DVD Player, mini refridgerator and coffee and tea making facilities.

THE BEACHFRONT BUNGALOW

The Beachfront Bungalow is one of the larger rooms and is situated right on the beachfront. It is also only a number of steps away from the pool and the bar area. For location, comfort and ease of access to amenities, the Beachfront Bungalow is the one to stay in.

THE SUPERIOR BUNGALOWS

The Superior Bungalows are our most prestige bungalow, with loads of space and extra comfort. From room 1 you even have beach views from the balcony. There is space for an extra bed as well as a small sitting area in the bungalow. The Superior Bungalows have the largest balconies and throughout are designed for absolute comfort.

We are NOT closed!

In the past year we have started our new website, and put it to work at our new domain www.weekendervillas.com. However, in the past we had an old website which was hosted in Germany. We knew that the website was outdated and wanted to build this beautiful new one, so that our guests could see what our resort was all about. We wanted big pictures, and lots of information that would show what our resort really looked like.

When we went to the old web designer/administrator and asked for the password so that we could get to work on the new website he refused it as he felt that we were unfairly discontinuing services with him. It was also claimed that he owned the domain and would not give it up for anything less than what would be held in Fort Knox!

Determined to give our guests the experience that they deserved, we continued on with our plans to make a new website, and registered a new domain. We now have this fantastic new online presence that you see when you take a look at our web page.

However, there has been a downside to all of this. Due to years of the old website being in place it still sits at number 1 on the list when you search for the Weekender Villa Beach Resort on google. As we don’t control this domain, we can’t control the content that is on the landing page. At the moment it says ‘Sorry we are closed’, and we get a lot of phone calls asking if we actually are closed.

I am here to assure you that we are not closed, and don’t plan to be for a long time. It is just another parlour trick to try and force our hand and cave in to the ransom being requested by the previous designer. If you enjoyed your stay at the resort, enjoy our new website or facebook page, please share the new web address so that all of our guests can know where to go when they need information, make bookings or just want to browse the site so that everybody can enjoy it. We do our very best to please our guests from the time they book to the times they look back on their stay.

Remember, if you are looking for us on google, and you get the message ‘Sorry we are closed’, for now look just a little further down the list and we will be there. Soon enough we will be on top but until then we appreciate your support and feedback.

Weekender Villa on ‘foursquare’

While the Weekender Villa Beach Resort has been on foursquare for a little while now, we have finally claimed our place on the growing foursquare network.

The high season is over and we can’t wait for April. Great rates for our guests as well as the famous Water Festival! An event that you don’t want to miss.
Everybody in Koh Samui gathers in the streets aiming to absolutely saturate every by-passer. Make sure that you have some clothes that you can get wet when you visit the island at this time of year and don’t miss out on all the fun!
Traditionally known as Songkran, the festival marks the Thai New Year on April 13th.
Songkran is a Thai family occassion, and you will see a lot of restaurants scarcely staffed as most spend their day with their families.
A highly remarkable and gracious part of Songkran is the tradition of Wai Khon Gaa ceremony, where entire neighbourhoods line up to pour water over the hands of the eldest members of the community to give blessing for the new year.

Truly a remarkable time of year in Koh Samui. If you’re afraid of water we suggest that you stay away, because you won’t have an option to stay dry when the ice cold water buckets and water pistols come out! More fun than you can imagine, make sure you come and stay with us for all of the excitment!

Weekender Villa have been working closely with Bendigo Web Design over the past few weeks to try and get the new website up and running and it is finally here! We are very excited about the site and hope that all of our valued guests will enjoy it too!
